Annual Christmas Sing-Along Launched
Greater Bridgeport area residents enjoyed a pleasant
afternoon of communal seasonal singing in the
magical outdoor atmosphere of one of
Bridgeport’s crown jewels.
Despite cold weather, overcast skies and the looming threat
of freezing rain, local citizens gathered at the
picturesque Saint Margaret’s Shrine on Sunday,
December 9 for the first annual Community
Christmas Carol Sing-Along.
B.A.C.I.O., Inc. (Bridgeport Area Cultural Italian
Organization), headed by the Park City’s former
Mayor Leonard Paoletta, and the Circolo Sportivo
Club were the event’s co-sponsors, assisted by
Reverend Alfonso Picone’s two parishes, Saint
Margaret’s and Saint Raphael’s.
Ken Flatto, Fairfield’s First Selectman and a self-proclaimed
“experienced caroler,” gave a warm welcome to
the crowd, and emphasized the regional nature of
the event.
All in all, a good time was had by everyone, and a reception
took place following the caroling at the Circolo
Sportivo building, located directly across Park
Avenue from the Shrine.
The event’s organizers look forward to continuing this
tradition and fostering joyful holiday seasons
in the future.
